Brolly Sheets all started when Diane got tired of continually banging her head on the top bunk every time she had to change her daughter Mia’s wet sheets at night. Diane thought there must be a better way and that is when the idea of Brolly Sheets was born. Starting off just selling at local markets, it quickly became aware to Diane that a lot of other parents had the same issues with changing the sheets at night when bed wetting accidents occurred. This is when Diane and Glenn realised that it was time to expand the business and cater to the growing need in the market for waterproof bedding. Diane’s one simple idea grew from just selling local, to now a growing international business making parent’s lives easier everywhere. Children all around the globe are being toilet trained thanks to Diane and Brolly Sheets.

Within the family of Brolly Sheets, there exists a much-loved member named Independently You – dedicated to embracing families with care, compassion, and innovation.

Independently You focuses on an older age group and those with disabilities. We are passionate about everyone having a dry and dignified life.

We’re the first to admit it: we love our Brolly Sheets! There’s nothing like the feeling of satisfaction in knowing that your bedding stays dry, no matter what surprises life throws at you.

We first started selling our Brolly Sheets at local markets. The markets were a great way to talk to people about what they needed, and we started getting questions asking if they were absorbent enough for a teenager, an elderly mother etc. It quickly became apparent that we needed to make our Brolly Sheets work for both children and adults, so we went back to the design table and created an even more absorbent bed pad.

After expanding the family business, Diane realised there weren’t a lot of products that looked great, worked well and are affordable for people who had additional needs. Diane and Glenn wanted to change this, starting up the brand Independently You. Diane would talk to parents and carers about their struggles with finding products that had youth sizes or were on the hunt for waterproof bedding and clothing protection products. Independently You addresses those additional needs by providing people with good quality, affordable products that help make people’s lives a little easier with care and dignity in mind. We are proud National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) advocates, helping to provide people with the products and assistance they need that help them live their daily lives.

The more parents and carers we talked to, the more we realised; one - what amazing people are out there, and two; there are not a lot of products that look great, work well and are affordable. 

So, we set out to change this.

We designed a waterproof flat sheet (using cotton jersey) after talking to a mother who was saying how much washing of the upper layers she did for her 20-year-old son. This family became the testers for several versions of sheets until we got one soft and quiet enough to work.

Then it was a mother of an 18-year-old who understandably wouldn't wear a baby bib. So, the waterproof, absorbent bandana was next.

Then Marley's Mum said, "Why isn't there more "youth products? Marley is too big for baby products but too small for adult.” For this reason, we have started to bring in more youth sizes.

The range of products for those with additional needs grew so much that we decided to split out a separate brand away from potty training.

Independently You addresses those additional needs by providing people with good quality, affordable products that help make people’s lives a little easier with care and dignity in mind.

Our goal for Texi diapers is for people to feel confident in going about their everyday lives without feeling ashamed of wearing disposables, because it is a very real and normal thing that all walks of life go through. We hope by providing a well designed product we are able to open up the conversation and destigamrise the wearing of diapers. The reality is incontinence is a common issue and while medical in nature doesn't need to be treated in a sterile manner. We want to inspire confidence and let people know there is nothing to be ashamed of.
